Korean fried chicken is famous for its incredibly crispy and light coating, achieved through a double-frying technique. Marinated in a flavorful mixture, the chicken pieces are fried to golden perfection and often served with a side of pickled radishes. This dish is a delicious and irresistible treat that has gained international popularity for its unique crunch and savory taste.

Ingredients

  • 1 kg chicken wings or drumsticks

  • 1 cup potato starch

  • Oil for frying

  • 2 tablespoons gochujang

  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce

  • 2 tablespoons honey

  • 2 garlic cloves, minced

  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil

  • Sesame seeds for garnish

Preparation

Step 1


Marinate Chicken:

  • Marinate chicken pieces with gochujang, soy sauce, honey, garlic, and sesame oil. Let it sit for at least 1 hour or overnight.

Coat Chicken:

  • Dredge marinated chicken pieces in potato starch, ensuring they are fully coated.

Fry Chicken:

  • Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350Ā°F (175Ā°C).

  • Fry chicken pieces in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 10 minutes per batch. Drain on paper towels.

Serve:

  • Serve hot, sprinkled with sesame seeds and with a side of pickled radishes.
